The men To re-launch this vineyard under the best possible conditions, I wanted to team up with a local vintner: Jean Baills. Assisted by his son Mathieu, he was a dynamic former member of the cooperative, with a wide knowledge of the terroir, the local weather and the history of the cru. He was furthermore, keen to go further with the wine making process.
Pierre Gaillard, Jean Baills and their team Jean brought with him about 15 hectares containing mostly old Grenache and Carignan vines, but there were also plantings of Mourvèdre, Syrah, Vermentino, and so on. All these have been added to the original 7 hectares of the Domaine Pagès, and new plantings have been under way since 2003. We decided to keep the original name of Robert Pagès’s domain.
