Les vins de Vienne, SeyssuelPierre Gaillard discovered Seyssuel’s wine-producing history in the course of his studies. Curiosity about this drove him to explore these hillsides, which had formerly been so well-known. Together with François Villard and Yves Cuilleron, he discovered the exceptional potential of this terroir.

Thus it come about that, one evening in May 1995, after a good diner, they turned again to the subject of Seyssuel’s and came up with the slightly mad idea of bringing Sayssuel’s vineyard and wines back to life. Thereafter, the three winemakers surveyed the hillsides of Seyssuel. At the beginning of February 1996, the deal was completed with the creation of a company to take charge of cultivating the new vineyard. The soils of the plots chosen are schistose, with a Southern exposure. The land was reclaimed and made over to prepare them to receive the varieties which, long ago, had made the reputation of the wines of Vienne. The first vines were planted around the Archbishop’s castle in 1996. Since then, the three friends have continued the re-conquest, by planting Syrah and Viognier on the hillsides of Seyssuel...
